I worked many years in restaurant kitchens and one of the simple devices that always amazed me was the tomato shark. I can do a lot of things with knives, but this is one of those specialty tools that really belongs in everyone's kitchen. No mandolins or food processers for me. Not an iota of tomato is wasted, other than the flower stem, and it works on strawberries for hulling also. I'm pretty sure buyers for department stores or lots of proffessed kitchen stores haven't worked in professional kitchens because they don't carry this item! If you do any canning this should be in your starter tools! Amazing, simple, and compact.
