This Springerle rolling pin works okay but leaves a little to be desired.
1) The 2 pieces (handles/middle piece and the etched, outer piece) don't roll together as smoothly as I would like. It seems to 'catch' a little while you're trying to stamp the designs on the dough. With a normal rolling pin, this doesn't matter. With this pin, you need to keep the designs lined up so they look okay when you cut them out. I had to end up holding (and pushing down slightly) the pin by the middle while I was rolling it.
2) The designs are a little crudely carved but they look okay once they're stamped/baked. It would be nice if the designs were a little more detailed or easier to distinguish what they were supposed to be - they're rather abstract and they're not all quite as 'unique' as I would like.
3) It would be nice if the outside had some sort of finish or smoothness - it's a very bare wood on the rolling pin. I worry how it will wear and hold up in the future.
Overall an okay product. As good as most others for sale on Amazon.
