Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro Marble Wine CoolerCustomer Review: Marble is cool Summary: 5 Stars
Serving Temperature is one of the five factors under your control that affects the taste of wine. Tools that help you control serving temperature add to your pleasure. A marble wine jacket will keep wine that's been previously brought to its best temperature at that temperature for about the length of time that it takes for two or more diners to finish it.
Marble jackets are better than ice buckets because they don't lead to all that annoying dripping. They are less versatile than the silver or printed sleeves that you can store in the freezer and use when you carry wine to a restaurant or host's home. On the other hand, they are less ugly and even fit right in with some table decor.

Description of Norpro Marble Wine CoolerHeavy-duty decorative gray-veined marble, this holder will serve as an attractive wine cooler or utensil holder. Refrigerate for an hour or so and serve your wine at the table while keeping it cool. Opening is 3 1/2 inches or so, some wine bottles will not fit. If you're looking for a touch of functional elegance that moves easily from countertop to tabletop and is as accommodating to graters as it is to Gewürztraminer, you've found it in this marble utensil holder and wine cooler. Fashioned in heavy-duty (heavy on the "heavy") decorative gray-veined marble, this holder will serve as an attractive catch-all for those myriad whisks, wooden spoons, and assorted spatulas that seem to proliferate in every kitchen. Yet, in the immortal words of Ron Popeil: "But wait! There's more!" Simply stow the holder in the fridge for about half an hour or so, then use it tableside to keep your favorite white wines cool. But be forewarned: with a diameter of about 3-1/2 inches, some bottles won't fit in the holder. Sparkling wines are out of the question, and interestingly enough, an inexpensive Gallo Chard was denied entry while a spendy Grgich Hills was enveloped perfectly, thank you very much. Maybe it's a Napa versus Sonoma thing. Or maybe, short of bringing a tape measure every time you shop for wine, you'll drink more German or Alsatian wines from those tall, thin bottles. The marble holder moves quite nicely from potato-ricer storage to a Riesling resting spot. --Tony Mason
