I had a ceramic compost container that was heavy and the lid broke. This stainless bucket is great and the lid is on tight. It's a good size at 1 gal and the price is good. There is no smell.
These cost $45 to $55 locally so spending just over $30 with free shipping made it affordable.
I still think it's a bit of money for holding scraps but it looks better than quart yogurt containers which I've also used to hold scraps until I took them to the compost bin outside.

These are great little filters for our counter-top composting canister. There is no smell, no fruit flies! We empty the small container into the yard compost about once a week.
